Equimotion was founded by Emma Mathlin & Kristin Dean, experienced and passionate practitioners with qualifications in human & equine physiotherapy, exercise physiology & biomechanics.
Our purpose is to provide scientifically proven solutions that help to facilitate injury prevention, recovery and improved performance for both horse and rider, encouraging riders and owners to be active partners in the management and rehabilitation process.
There is nothing worse than feeling left out of a process and plan that directly involves you. So many practitioners will advise you on how they alone can treat injuries or performance related issues. However, the problem is that the most critical recovery and improvements happen outside of those weekly, fortnightly or monthly sessions with your practitioner. So, the real value lies in what you can do on a daily basis to really affect change and lead to longer lasting improvements.
At Equimotion we believe in working with riders and horse owners to develop management plans together - taking into account your goals, expectations and abilities. It’s not a case of us simply doing a treatment to you or your horse, rather it’s the guiding and positioning of you as an active and, quite frankly, the most important participant in the management plan.
So many of our clients and patients end a consultation saying, “it’s so good to finally have a plan”. If you’re the kind of person who wants to take an active role in the rehab process and have the tools and knowledge to achieve long lasting results for you and your horse, we’d love to work with you.

HANNAH MAULDON
Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT) BMedSc |
GENEVIEVE KIRK
BSc (Hons) Veterinary Physiotherapy |
A dedicated horse rider and physiotherapist, Hannah gained her Doctor of Physiotherapy qualification at Macquarie University. She is also an Equestrian Australia para-dressage classifier. Hannah works in our rider division, providing physiotherapy and biomechanics services to riders.
Hannah has a background in neurological physiotherapy and through this work has become a highly skilled problem solver with a deep dedication to her clients. Her passion is helping clients achieve their goals (no matter how big or small) by considering every aspect of equestrian performance, leaving no stone unturned. Hannah is a keen dressage rider and spends all her free time with her horses: Obi, Rupert, Sake, Adam and Buzz. |
Genevieve has a strong background in Dressage training, having competed and represented Australia internationally throughout shows in Europe at Young Rider and Senior Small Tour levels on several horses. She has competed up to Inter 2 level and trained all the Grand Prix movements in the UK with British team rider Gareth Hughes.
During her studies at Harper Adams University in England, in which she completed a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Physiotherapy, Genevieve was commended for her imagination with rehabilitation programmes and skills. She is a firm believer that consistent treatments and strength-work combined with correct training is vital to the success, soundness and longevity of our equine’s sport careers. This unique skillset has developed from years as a Dressage rider and trainer but is highly applicable (and necessary!) for horses of all disciplines. Following graduation, Genevieve launched and ran her own mobile Veterinary Physiotherapy practice in the UK alongside a training and rehabilitation stables in The Cotswolds, called “Kirk Equine Performance”. As a rider, she is working to bring her young Hannoverian mare, Riva, up the levels, hopefully to international sport again, and they are excited to have returned “home” to Australian soil. |
Our team have worked with associations including Equestrian NSW & QLD, the National High Performance Squads, Dressage NSW Young Riders and at clinics held by visiting international instructors. They have presented at conferences for groups such as the Australian Physiotherapy Association and The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy, along with presenting numerous lectures and webinars for clubs and equestrian education platforms. They have also written for publications including Equestrian Life, Equestrian News, Hills & Hawkesbury Equestrian News and Dressage NSW's Centreline.
